Those of you who follow me on my blog and on Instagram (@therunawaydiaries) will know that I enjoy travelling, and lots of it! I’ve been meaning to write up a blog post like this for a while and when Marc B approached me and asked if I would like to collaborate with them, I instantly jumped at the chance. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect; my current bag was in a state of disrepair and I was desperate for a new one. I was lucky enough to choose a bag from Marc B’s gorgeous range and decided upon the Gloria bag in black. I instantly fell in love.
To make matters better, this bag is perfect for everyday use as well as travel due to it’s spacious yet sleek interior. Surprisingly, despite appearances, the bag is capable of carrying all of my travel necessities and let me tell you, that is no easy feat.
In The Bag
Of course when I’m travelling I’m going to need the ultimate travel necessity: a passport. Here’s a few fun facts about me that you may not have previously known: my mum’s from New Zealand and my dad is Irish however although I was born in New Zealand I have lived in Perth all my life (until now!). Having an Irish father means I’m eligible for the holy grail European passport so I often carry both around with me, depending on where I’m going.
Being a total beauty junkie comes at a price, both literally and figuratively. Although I would love to cart my entire makeup bag around with me it’s simply not possible so I usually opt to carry a few essentials instead. This Zoeva pouch came with the brush set and it’s a perfect size for travel; not too big and not too small.
Yes, I’m one of those girls that wears makeup on the plane. I just feel better when I wear it and it also means that I usually look better when the plane lands too! There’s nothing worse than feeling tired but also looking tired too. Well maybe there are worse things but we won’t get into them now…
To keep dark circles at bay I always bring a concealer with me. At the moment I’ve been using the NARS Radient Creamy Concealer in Custard. It’s full coverage yet creamy formula combined with it’s easy to apply doe foot applicator makes concealing on the go a breeze.
I bring powder with me to set the concealer and to eliminate any shine that my combination skin decides to produce. At the moment I’m loving Revlon’s Age Defying Powder.
Just because my feet are no longer on the ground doesn’t mean my eyebrows have to be flying around my face either. I take Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz with me everywhere and I adore the fact that it has a spoolie on one end to brush my unruly hairs into place.
I also bring my favourite lipstick of the moment, which is usually anything from MAC and a lip balm to prevent dry, cracked lips. Ouch! And who can forget, arguably the most important items of them all for obvious reasons; a toothbrush, travel sized toothpaste and mints.
I for one cannot stand plane head phones and I’m sure I’m not the only one! I don’t need anything fancy, just something that doesn’t insist on cutting two earphone sized holes in my ears. I take my Apple earphones with me in case I want to listen to some music; they may not be noise cancelling but they do the job. My phone comes with me everywhere as does my purse, compact mirror (which admittedly I have only ever used once but you never know right?) and 2016 diary.
No plane journey is complete without a good book and at the moment I’m reading One Day by David Nicholls. I don’t trust leaving my laptop in my suitcase to be thrown around on conveyer belts so I take it on board with me and you never know, sometimes I’m also able to drag myself away from Friends re-runs and actually get some work done!
