So you may remember in my last blog post I talked about my time in Mumbai in India. Well since I wrote that I have been a very busy lady! I came back to Perth for a week, unpacked, then repacked my bags again, moved to London and went on a whirlwind tour around Europe. In just a little over a month I’ve visited 14 countries! That’s right 14. Needless to say I’m completely exhausted but am excited to talk to you about my time in one of those 14 countries; India.
Jaipur
If I had to choose my favourite city out of the four that I visited, Jaipur would win hands down. It is everything you imagined India would be and more. Elephants and camels walked down the street, bazaars lined the sidewalks and the city bustled with life.

On our first day in Jaipur we walked to the top of a nearby temple and boy was the hike worth it! The steep walk up the hill boasted breathtaking views of the city and it was then that I knew I would fall in love with this place.
One of my personal highlights from my time in Jaipur was the elephant sanctuary at Elephantastic. Elephants are my absolute favourite animal and I was desperate to see them in India however I made sure that I only visited legitimate sanctuaries that treat their animals with respect. I decided not to ride the elephants and instead opted to feed them and painted designs on them. Unfortunately due to it being Winter we weren’t able to bathe the elephants but I was too happy to care! It was an amazing experience that I would highly recommend to any elephant or animal lovers out there.
If you travel to India, chances are you’ll want to visit the Taj Mahal and who could blame you! The Taj Mahal is a truly beautiful and majestic building that is well worth the visit. I would highly recommend staying overnight in Agra, where the Taj Mahal is located, if you’re travelling from Jaipur as it’s quite a drive. We arrived at the Taj for sunrise however unfortunately the fog was so thick it was a struggle to see anything properly! If you’re travelling to India in Winter, I would suggest waiting until at least 10am until the fog has lifted before you pay a visit. Our photos were slightly disappointing but ho hum!
I would also highly recommend visiting Red Fort if you have a chance. It is one of many fortifications in India but it’s beauty is undeniable and it’s definitely worth a look. 
Besides seeing these sites, simply walking the streets of the Old City in Jaipur is something you must do. Jaipur is known as ‘The Pink City’ as by law all of the buildings in the old city must be painted a terracotta pink.
