My Favourite Highlighters

Girls want two things in this world. 1.) to consume as much food as possible without gaining weight and 2.) to have cheeks that glow like disco balls.

Ok perhaps girls want more than those two things so lets not get too serious over here but these two fare pretty highly on my list! I might not be able to help you with the consuming food part (except actually consuming the food) but what I am good at is applying highlighter, and lots of it.

I thought I would help you ladies (and gents) out there who love a healthy unnatural glow and narrow down my four favourite highlighters that I rotate on the regular.

1. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Copper Diamond

Every beauty junkie needs a bronze highlight in their collection. What I love about the shimmer bricks is that you can opt to either use all 5 shades in conjunction with one another to create an overall bronze shade or pick and choose shades from the compact and use on the cheeks and even the eyes. I quite often dust all the shades on my cheek bones and then use a pencil brush to pick up the lightest shade and use it as an inner corner highlight, perfection!

Although this shimmer brick is limited edition fortunately the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze bears a striking resemblance when swatched.

Nothing looks more natural than a cream highlighter; it’s perfect for a day time highlight but is still punchy enough to be used in the evening too. The Shimmering Skin Perfector lives up to it’s name and it’s hype! This stuff is shimmering without being glittery and leaves you looking like you’ve got a natural, healthy sheen to your skin. I use my fingers to place the product on my cheek bones, down my nose and on my cupids bow to create an over all glowy look. Lately I’ve discovered that using this product and then placing a powder highlight over the top makes for an INSANE glow. I have to warn you though: it’s not for day time use! I would suggest evening only to avoid actually looking like a shiny disco ball.

3. MAC Soft and Gentle

This one is popular with beauty bloggers and vloggers alike and for good reason! This baked highlight is a beautiful finely milled rose gold power that leaves you looking like a glowing goddess. I find this to be one of the few powder highlights that I feel I can get away with using during the day. Best suited to medium and olive skin tones as it’s quite warm and may leave fair skin looking dirty rather than glowing!

4. The Balm Mary-Louminizer

Now if I had to choose a favourite highlighter out of my four favourites, it would have to be this one. This is like highlight went to highlighting school and then went to highlighting university and graduated with first class honours. It’s highlight on crack. It’s a university educated highlight on crack. In case you haven’t already connected the dots, I really really love this product. It’s creamy and buttery formula means the powder glides on like a dream and the pigmentation is out of this world. If you’ve thought about getting this but haven’t bit the bullet do yourself a favour and buy it now! I’m yet to find someone who doesn’t love this as much as I do, and that’s saying something.
